Paradise landscapes, majestic world of marine life, and ... Cemetery pirates? Once on a fantastic and tranquil island Île Sainte-Marie was a base of the most notorious in the history of pirates, many of whom were buried here. The graves decorated with skulls and crossbones, are one of the most popular attractions of Madagascar. No less interesting is the ability to see the lovers humpback whales that migrate into the surrounding water in the breeding season, which lasts from July to September. Among the other delights of the island include hiking, cycling and swimming and snorkelling around the local reefs.
